Bioactive and pharmacological characterization of Chenopodium quinoa, Sorghum bicolor and Linum usitassimum: A review

چکیده

Quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa), sorghum (Sorghum bicolor) and flaxseed (Linum usitassimum L.) are grains seeds popularly known for their nutritional values. This review aimed to discuss the profile of these seeds, bioactive compounds how those help prevent chronic diseases. These crops were selected this study as they all free gluten; a rich source protein, have low glycemic index (GI) i.e. do not spike blood sugar level, which makes them good choice people with diabetes celiac disease. During study, it was found that some or like phenolic acids, flavonoids, saponins, phytosterols, tocopherol, tannins, betalains, stillbenoids, polycosanols, alpha-linoleic acid, lignans anti- cancerous, diabetic, anti-hypertensive cardiovasculareffects on body. posses’ quercetin, kaempferol, Betacyanins, betalains biological functions such anti-hypertensive, anti-viral, anti-oxidant, anti-cancerous, anti-diabetic, anti-allergic, anti-thrombosis, anti-atherosclerosis effects Sorghum contains trans-resveratrol, caffeic gallic campesterol, stigmasterol gallotannins, helps lung, breast prostate cancer, prevents type-2-diabetes, has neuroprotective effect. Flaxseed bioactives Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), cyanogenic glycosides Immunomodulatory, anti-fibrosis, anti-mutagenic anti-obesity effects. Since world is moving towards healthy lifestyle, nutritious foods.
